Lay day in Carentan - Sunday, 7 September 2003

The meteo promised little wind, and possibly light rain in the afternoon, so we explored the town, bought a large scale map, and cycled to Issigny taking different back roads on the way out and back.

We had lunch in Issigny, which looked a nice little town. The mooring possibilities seemed in practice to be tying up to a wall near the bridge and drying onto soft, but flat mud. All the ladder spaces were taken. In theory there are visitors' moorings on a pontoon, but it seemed to be totally occupied by local boats.

On our return we were visited by a French liveabord, who had a ferro-cement ketch. He'd come back from Senagal for his children's education, but he described a country that seemed in every other respect idyllic. Maybe...
