For the next 2 days we walked in the baking sun up each side of the gorge up towards the snowline, then descended to Capiliera,
the highest of the three villages, where we lunched in a restaurant on the plaza. Then we took the old mountain path down through
Bubion, the middle village, back to Pampaneira. In the evenings, I think we were the only visitors in town, but each day we
found either a restaurant or basic tapas bar open for a few locals and us.
This gorge provided some of the nicest walking we have found anywhere outside the English Lake District. And it was hot in
January!
